Posted December 11, 2018 08:08:31 A bed made from sheets of pine or bamboo has been discovered by scientists.
The discovery was made during a project to use sheets of tree bark as building materials at the Institute of Materials and Engineering in Germany, reports the German news agency dpa.
Scientists found a variety of materials, including sheets of bamboo, oak and wood from the northern forests of Germany.
The researchers found that the wood, which is usually used for plywood, has properties that can be used to make more efficient wood-based buildings.
The material is cheap, lightweight and durable, they found.
It’s also easy to use, said Professor Andreas Hofer from the Institute for Materials and Energy.
“It is easy to clean, easy to work with, easy and fast to cut,” he said.
He said it is also good for the environment, and that the material could be used for furniture, doors and even walls.
“We think it could be an economical way of building more efficient buildings,” he told the news agency.
The paper was published in Nature Communications.
