(AP) – The Latest on the death of a Florida woman from a fall while on a construction job article A construction worker died Tuesday when he fell off a scaffold in a building material warehouse, authorities said.
The worker, whose name has not been released, was on scaffolding to install a new ceiling in the Mission Island apartment complex at the time, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue spokeswoman Elizabeth Hernandez said.
She said the scaffold was on the second floor.
The building material was loaded into trucks and hauled to a warehouse, where it was delivered to the site, Hernandez said in a statement.
No one was hurt in the fall.
The woman fell into a pile of scaffolding, she said.
Hernandez said the worker was wearing protective equipment, including a harness.
A spokeswoman for the state Department of Environmental Protection said it was investigating.
The company that supplies the materials is Tindells Building Materials, which provides building and home construction products, including scaffolding and wood flooring.
Hernandez did not provide a description of the worker or the building material.
She added that the company did not immediately return calls.
